Parents Voice in Government School Education

‘Reinventing Schools’ discussion paper

A group of education experts has published a discussion paper about the future of school education in Australia, titled Reinventing Australian Schools.
Under the name The Health, Wellbeing and Learning in Schools Project, the group represents education faculties at major tertiary and research institutions such as the University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute.
The paper outlines a vision for the future based on five key principles:

  1. A whole child and whole school approach (organising principle)
  2. Co-designed, evidence-based and flexible learning and wellbeing approaches
  3. Health and wellbeing as essential 21st century skills
  4. Building an engaging culture of health, wellbeing and learning in school
  5. Relationships and partnerships between services, families and schools in every community

One of the paper’s authors, Prof. Pasi Sahlberg from the University of Melbourne, has a very useful introduction to the Discussion Paper on his website.
