Self-knowledge, learning and wellbeing

Clinical psychologist Andrew Fuller has written two information sheets for parents and teachers on the value of self-knowledge (or metacognition, to use the psychological term).

The first sheet, Metacognition & the Science of Learning introduces the concept of self-efficacy. Andrew writes, Our assessment of our ability to do something & our willingness to act on this (self-efficacy) directly predicts our success in that area. Self efficacy improves results in school & is a major factor in success in all aspects of life.”

The second sheet, Metacognition & The Science of Wellbeing examines the importance of self-knowledge in looking after oneself, especially in addressing problems such as concentration and distractibility, anxiety and motivation.

We thank Andrew for making these valuable resources freely available for parents and teachers.
