The Age reports today on the problem of children being exposed to car fumes at school drop-off/pickup time.
According to the article, “Car parking and leaving the engine running at schools should be banned, experts say, as the toxic exhaust fumes could be making children sick.”
Parents Victoria CEO Gail McHardy is quoted in the aticle:
Parents Victoria chief executive officer Gail McHardy said car parking and congestion around schools have been an issue for a long time, and it was likely to get worse with more cars on the road.
”It’s really important that school communities and local councils work closely together to work out strategies for good pick-up and drop-off arrangements,” she said.
