The 2026 ANZAC Day dawn service in Seabrook was made all the more meaningful by the active participation of Seabrook Primary School’s Parents and Friends Association, working alongside local organisers to bring students into the heart of the commemoration.
Student leaders from the school took on proud and visible roles at the service. They recited the iconic poem In Flanders Fields, distributed rosemary pins to attendees, and participated in the laying of the wreath.
The P&F also worked with Grade 5 and 6 students to organise an art competition on the theme of “Women in War”, recognising the often-untold stories of the women who served, supported, and sacrificed during wartime. Students responded with remarkable creativity, producing works that showed genuine thought and care for the subject.
The top 20 artworks were selected, with prizes sponsored by the P&F, and displayed at the event venue for the community to see. You can see some of the artworks below.
