School uniform – PV media comment

Parents Victoria CEO Gail McHardy was interviewed on ABC Radio Melbourne’s Drive program yesterday, on the issue of school uniform.

Host Ali Moore reminded listeners of the change to uniform rules announced last year, that allows students at Victorian public schools to wear non logoed below-the-waist uniform items e.g. shorts, pants, skirts, socks. Parents Victoria welcomed this announcement at the time. The change takes effect this year.

In the interview, Gail explains what the new rules mean for parents, and the benefits they give in terms of cost, choice and flexibility.

Gail and Ali also discuss the broader issues around uniform, good communication between families and schools, and the continuing issue of under-funding of public schools.
