An advertisement was published in the Age and other Nine newspapers recently, calling on News Limited to stop publishing ‘league tables’ of schools based on their NAPLAN scores.
The ad points out that, “It is unfair and misleading to create such tables ranking schools purely by the NAPLAN scores without considering the context of each school, including the level of socio-economic advantage (SEA) of the student cohorts in each school and other key factors.”
One of the signatory organisations listed in the ad is the Australian Council of State School Organisations (ACSSO), of which Parents Victoria is a member.
