The VRQA is Victoria’s education and training regulator. We are an independent statutory authority that works to assure the quality of education and training in Victoria. This includes the regulation of Victoria’s schools, school boarding premises, home schooling, international secondary student education, vocational education and training (VET), apprenticeships and traineeships.
Registration of schools
Every school and school boarding premises in Victoria must be registered with the VRQA. We oversee the regular review of registered schools and school boarding premises to make sure they meet minimum. We also accredit senior secondary qualifications in Victoria and register the organisations that award them.
The VRQA plays an important role in keeping Victoria’s children safe. We mitigate the risk of harm to Victorian apprentices and trainees by ensuring their employers meet training contract obligations. We also ensure that registered schools, school boarding premises and other education providers that work with students under the age of 18 have implemented and comply with the Child Safe Standards.
We also investigate complaints about breaches of standards and guidelines by education providers in Victoria that are registered with us, home schooling in Victoria and issues relating to apprentice and trainee training contracts.
