Ringwood Secondary College has a simple and effective way to engage families – they run a regular session called Parent Connect that enables a two-way conversation between parents and school staff. From the school website: “Parent Connect provides a mechanism for families to obtain clearer insight how Ringwood Secondary College functions and for the College to better understand our families. Parent Connect is an informal forum that usually occurs in Week 5 of each term where topics of common concern are discussed.”
Parents are invited to suggest topics for the Parent Connect sessions.
Previous topics have included:
- Building resilience in young people
- Understanding Compass and reporting information
- Supporting effective study skills
- Cyber safety
We’re sure the investment of time and effort into these sessions is repaid many times over in better understanding, communication, collaboration and community spirit at the school!
