Parents Voice in Government School Education

Four questions for Victoria’s political leaders

Victorian families want public schools that are valued, supported and respected.

With the state election approaching, Parents Victoria is asking Victoria’s political leaders four simple questions about the future of public education and the role of families. We’re asking for clear commitments — not complicated promises.

How you can HELP: If a local candidate comes to your door, attends a local community event or holds a meeting in your electorate, ask them: “What is your response to Parents Victoria’s questions?”  Share our questions with your local candidates and ask them to respond.

Throughout October, Parents Victoria will be taking these questions to political parties and candidates. In our November edition of Parents Voice, we will report back to Victorian families on the responses we receive, helping families understand where political leaders stand on the issues that matter to public education and school communities ahead of the 28 November 2026 election.

Part 2: The Asks

Parents Victoria is asking Victoria’s political leaders for clear commitments to Victorian public school families.

These 15 parent asks sit beneath our four simple questions:

  1. Will you value and back Victoria’s public schools?
  2. Will you fully fund Victorian public schools now?
  3. Will you put families at the heart of public education?
  4. Will you ensure Victorian government school families have a strong, independent voice?
