In the September edition of Parents Voice, we alerted our readers that DET had refreshed the Parent Payment Policy as a result of a series of school audits on how they were charging and communicating those charges with parents around school costs.
PV pursues a broad goal of ensuring that public education is compulsory, inclusive, secular, and equitable for all. Over time Governments have shifted the cost of school provision back to schools and their community members. Schools have become the ‘meat in the sandwich’ trying to balance school budgets; stretching resources; prioritising curriculum programs and teacher selection based on costs.
