Welcome to a new school year!
We hope the summer break provided opportunities for rest, reconnection and enjoyment with family and friends. We are also deeply mindful that for some school communities, the holidays were once again marked by fires and floods. To those affected, we acknowledge the disruption, loss and ongoing recovery challenges you may be facing.
To our students and families; may this year be filled with growth, curiosity, and connection. When families and schools walk hand in hand, children thrive.
Parental engagement isn’t just support from the sidelines; it’s a powerful partnership that shapes confidence, resilience, and lifelong learning. Meaningful parental and carer engagement plays a vital role in supporting students’ learning, development, and wellbeing, and in strengthening inclusive, connected school communities.
The world our children are growing up in is very different from the one many of us experienced. Daily pressures, uncertainty and rapid change affect us all. Now more than ever, it is vital that schools, families and communities work together to support one another to perform at our best — with kindness, respect and care.
As Chair and Immediate Past President of Parents Victoria, the organisation looks forward to working collaboratively with families, educators, and stakeholders to support student voice, promote equity, and ensure every child is supported to reach their full potential.
Together, through shared responsibility and collective commitment, we can foster safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments for children and young people across Victoria.
